Men Accused of Using Stolen Credit Cards

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP — Two men caught on security cameras are suspected of using stolen credit cards at Target and the Wyoming Valley Mall in the Wilkes-Barre area and the Mall at Steamtown in Scranton. Chief’s Wife Sentenced for Theft from Fire Company

JIM THORPE — A fire chief’s wife, accused of stealing more than $32,000 from a volunteer fire company, has been sentenced in Carbon County. Amanda Devine was sentence to three to 12 months behind bars, followed by three years of probation. Devine admitted to stealing about $32,000 from the Kidder Township Volunteer Fire Company relief fund. Last year, investigators said Devine would write checks to herself and cash them. Her husband was fire chief at the time of the thefts.

HANOVER TOWNSHIP — Police in Luzerne County arrested a man they believe robbed a Family Dollar near Wilkes-Barre. Officers picked up Shandell Moore, 36, of Wilkes-Barre on Friday. SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT — A former post office worker has agreed to plead guilty to taking more than $11,000. Authorities say Lori Regel-Childs took the money from the post office in South Williamsport from October 2014 until December 2015. The woman from South Williamsport allegedly used the cash to pay personal bills and expenses.

NANTICOKE — Police say more than $30,000 worth of computers were stolen from Greater Nanticoke Area High School Wednesday night. Nanticoke city police say someone broke into two separate classrooms by breaking the windows. They stole 30 laptops from each room as well as a desktop computer from one. According to police, the 61 computers are valued at $30,750. Anyone with information about this burglary is asked to contact the Nanticoke police at 570-735-2200.

SCRANTON — A Luzerne County attorney has pleaded guilty to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Charles Pedri, 64, of Hazleton, was in federal court in Scranton Thursday morning. West Pittston police say surveillance video shows John Murphy going into a home on Susquehanna Avenue and stealing $400 from a wallet Tuesday afternoon. When police asked the man from West Pittston if he had a drug problem, he told them he owed his cable company $800. Murphy faces theft and other charges here in Luzerne County.
